Wiim Ultra

The WiiM Ultra is a wireless music streamer and digital-to-analogue converter for use with an amplifier or active speakers. It uses an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chip for digital audio conversion, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity provided through 2 antennae.

Control is handled through a 3.5-inch full-colour touchscreen, a physical volume knob and the WiiM Home app. The aluminium chassis houses a range of audio inputs and outputs, including analogue connections for direct connection to an amplifier or active speaker. Optical and coaxial outputs are also available for other system configurations.

After the WiiM Ultra appears automatically in the WiiM Home app, the in-app guide takes you through the remaining set-up. Music streaming can begin in less than 2 minutes.

Supported services and platforms include Spotify Connect, Chromecast Audio, Works with Alexa, Tidal Connect, DLNA playback and Roon Ready. Existing services can cast to the streamer, while the WiiM Home app provides access to additional music.

A built-in microphone allows the WiiM Ultra to measure the sound in your room after set-up. This accounts for latency introduced by the connected device and synchronises the audio for playback either as a standalone system or within a multi-room arrangement.

For wireless multi-room use, the WiiM Ultra can be grouped with Alexa-enabled devices, Google Home devices and other WiiM streamers. Multi-room playback is supported from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Aux and SPDIF sources.

A high-quality analogue-to-digital converter supports digital output up to 24-bit, 192kHz. This allows traditional sources connected to the WiiM Ultra to be cast across the network.
