The WiiM Ultra is a wireless music streamer and digital audio hub for connecting streaming services and traditional sources to an amplifier or active speaker. It uses an ESS Sabre ES9038Q2M DAC chip for digital-to-analogue conversion, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity provided through 2 antennae.

The front panel has a 3.5-inch full-colour touchscreen, an aluminium chassis and a physical volume knob. A range of audio inputs and outputs allows the WiiM Ultra to connect directly to analogue inputs on an amplifier or active speaker. Optical and coaxial outputs are also available for other system configurations.

After connection, the WiiM Ultra appears automatically in the WiiM Home app. Its in-app guide supports the rest of the setup, allowing music streaming to begin in less than 2 minutes.

Supported services and platforms include Spotify Connect, Chromecast Audio, Works with Alexa, Tidal Connect, DLNA playback and Roon Ready. The WiiM Home app provides access to additional music services, while the Ultra can also receive music cast from existing compatible services.

A built-in microphone measures the sound in the room after setup. This allows the WiiM Ultra to account for latency introduced by the connected device and synchronise playback, either as a standalone system or within a multi-room setup.

The WiiM Ultra can be grouped with Alexa-enabled devices, Google Home devices and other WiiM streamers for synchronised multi-room playback. It supports multi-room playback from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Aux and SPDIF source inputs. A high-quality analogue-to-digital converter supports digital output up to 24-bit, 192kHz, allowing traditional sources to be distributed across the network with their analogue signals converted to digital.
