MTI100 Integrated Turntable

The McIntosh MTI100 is an integrated turntable with a built-in amplifier and a wide range of analogue, digital and wireless connections. Add a pair of speakers to create a complete home audio system without the need for separate source, preamplifier and power amplifier components.

The turntable plays 33-1/3 and 45 rpm records and is fitted with a Sumiko Olympia Moving Magnet cartridge. Its upgraded stylus and cantilever assembly provide increased dynamic punch and improved frequency response. The belt-driven platter uses manual speed change and is driven by an industrial grade permanent magnet AC synchronous motor with a 2 speed pulley. The motor synchronises platter speed with the frequency of the AC power line for precise rotational speeds during playback.

A 7 pound (3.18 kg) machined aluminium platter and matching machined aluminium tonearm with anti-skate are mounted above a 3/8” (9.5mm) thick glass panel, the same glass used in the front panels of McIntosh’s larger amplifiers. Beneath this is a custom 1/4” (6.35mm) thick metal plate for added stability. The combined mass of the platter and metal plate helps resist and absorb noise caused by external vibrations.

The MTI100 uses a Class D power amplifier rated at 80 Watts per channel into 4 Ohms or 50 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms. Speakers, sold separately, connect through the rear-panel speaker binding posts. The main preamplifier section is powered by 2 12AX7 vacuum tubes. A separate phono preamplifier is housed in a custom shielding box, which helps prevent interference or noise from entering the vinyl signal.

Inputs include an unbalanced auxiliary connection, digital coaxial and optical inputs, and a High Definition Bluetooth 4.2 receiver. An external Bluetooth antenna supports reception and signal quality. The analogue and digital inputs allow sources such as a TV, tuner or CD player to be connected. A subwoofer output is provided for adding low-frequency reinforcement, while stereo speaker outputs connect the main loudspeakers.

For headphones, the front panel has a jack powered by a High Drive headphone amplifier with increased gain and output power. It is optimised for virtually all headphone types. Power, volume and input selection can be adjusted using the supplied remote control or the 2 control knobs on the unit.

An illuminated McIntosh logo is set into the top glass panel, and the front of the chassis carries a classic McIntosh-styled die cast aluminium name badge.
