Xtension 12
The Xtension 12 was introduced as Pro-Ject Audio System's first "money-no-object" turntable, having originally been designed to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary. Bringing together 20+ years of experience in designing turntables, Xtension 12 puts Pro-Ject firmly on the map as a true high-end analogue brand.

The Pro-Ject Xtension 12 Evolution is a high-end turntable combining mass-loaded construction with a floating turntable design. Its large MDF chassis is filled with metal sand, giving the structure high mass and low resonance, and is supported above the stand by 4 powerful magnetic feet. This arrangement provides both mass loading and magnetic isolation.
The precision-balanced platter is made from a purpose-chosen metal alloy and damped internally with Sorbothane®. Its upper surface is finished with recycled vinyl records, providing a record-playing surface without requiring an additional mat. Magnetic suspension supports the platter, which runs on an inverted ceramic ball-bearing.
Integrated electronic speed control supplies the high-grade motor with a clean, regulated power signal. The Pro-Ject Xtension 12 Evolution can be switched between 33, 45 and 78 rpm, with a step function for incremental speed adjustment.
A Pro-Ject 12CC Evolution tonearm is pre-installed. Its carbon-fibre armtube is designed to direct parasitic vibrations into the heavy, anti-resonant tonearm assembly, supporting precise cartridge tracking. The tonearm is mounted on a sheet of Sorbothane® for additional isolation from the chassis. Its inverted tonearm bearings are ABEC 7 quality.
The turntable is supplied with a removable dust cover, a premium output cable and a heavy-weight record puck.
True Balanced Connections
The interconnect cable between a record player and phono stage can pick up noise from household appliances, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, other power cables and audio amplifiers. Unshielded RCA interconnects can increase this interference and make it audible through the loudspeakers.
Balanced connections, typically using XLR cables, use 2 wires to carry the musical signal, with 1 side inverted. Noise picked up by both wires is therefore reversed on 1 side. When the signals are recombined at the phono stage, the opposing noise signals cancel each other, leaving a louder signal with less remaining noise.
