Ultimate System Set-Up Disc

The IsoTek Ultimate System Set-Up Disc is a CD for setting up and evaluating a stereo hi-fi system. It combines music, sounds and spoken instructions in 14 test and tune-up tracks, together with 6 music tracks from the Opus3 music label.

The test material covers channel evaluation, phase, loudspeaker position, soundstage, stereo image depth and frequency range. The Opus3 recordings are selected to assess aspects of audio performance including timing, dynamics and soundstaging after calibration.

IsoTek designed the Ultimate System Set-Up Disc to guide the user through system configuration and loudspeaker placement in a logical, easy-to-understand way. It is intended for use by audiophiles regardless of prior knowledge, with clear spoken instructions provided for each set-up procedure.

The disc can be used to establish the stereo soundstage for a particular listening environment, but this requires careful adjustment of loudspeaker position and placement. Tracks 5, 6, 7 and 8 are test tracks that indicate whether further adjustment is required. Once the left-to-right loudspeaker position has been optimised for the listening location, tracks 9 to 12 can be used to assess and adjust soundstage depth by moving the loudspeakers forwards and backwards in small increments.
