U2 Mini

The Lumin U2 Mini is a transport-only network streamer for use with an external DAC. It introduces Lumin’s new processing system in a compact, all-aluminium chassis, with the processing capacity to support future updates.

The faster processor provides flexible resampling from 44.1kHz to PCM384 and DSD256, allowing both upsampling and downsampling to every supported format. Lumin U2 Mini also supports playback of DSD512, with USB output capable of handling this format.

The new hardware and software build on the U1 Mini platform, adding improved features and greater resampling flexibility while retaining its quad clocking system and 5 digital outputs. The new surface finish is taken from the high-end P1. It is less susceptible to finger marks and easier to clean.

Five types of digital audio output are provided, including USB, alongside the quad native clock system for precision timing. The Lumin U2 Mini supports MQA, DSD, FLAC and WAV, with native access to TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay. These services provide access to tens of millions of songs.

The Lumin App is described by What Hi-Fi as “fantastically intuitive and easy to use”. Lumin’s continuous development programme has added Apple Silicon Mac support, TIDAL Connect, FLAC Lossless Radio and TIDAL Suggested/Related tracks, all in 2021.
