Tube Box DS3 B

The Pro-Ject Tube Box DS3 B is a high-performance dual-mono phono preamplifier designed to combine the warmth and musical character of valve amplification with the low-noise advantages of true balanced analogue connectivity.

At the heart of the design are two E88CC / 6922 vacuum tubes, selected for their low noise and low microphonics. These form part of a carefully engineered amplification stage intended to deliver excellent detail, natural tonal richness and a spacious, engaging presentation from vinyl.

The Tube Box DS3 B supports both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges, with a wide range of adjustment available directly from the front panel. Gain can be selected from 40 to 65dB, while capacitance settings of 50, 150, 300 and 400pF provide accurate matching for MM cartridges. For MC designs, input impedance can be adjusted continuously between 10 and 1000 ohms, allowing especially precise cartridge optimisation.

Two turntables can be connected simultaneously, with individual input settings stored in memory for convenient switching between different cartridges or decks. A switchable subsonic filter helps control very low-frequency rumble without affecting the main audio band.

True Balanced connectivity is provided through Mini XLR and full-size XLR inputs, alongside conventional RCA connections. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs allow the Tube Box DS3 B to integrate easily into a wide variety of hi-fi systems. When used with a compatible balanced turntable and cartridge, the balanced signal path can help reduce interference and preserve very low-level musical information.

The precision RIAA equalisation stage is designed for excellent accuracy, while the dual-mono circuit topology and ultra-low-noise electronics help maintain channel separation and clarity. An aluminium chassis provides additional shielding from external electrical interference.
