The Plinius Toko is a networked digital player with an integrated CD transport. Its quality CD slot-loading transport is the same design used in the Plinius Mauri CD player. With a disc inserted, the Toko operates as a CD player. Ejecting the disc returns it to networked digital player mode.
In networked mode, wireless or wired Ethernet communication carries both music files and control signals. The Toko supports FLAC, LPCM, AIFF, ALAC and MP3 files, along with gapless playback. Its DAC and interface receiver use high-performance Burr Brown components with an established record in digital sound reproduction, and the selected DAC supports files up to 24bit/192ks/s.
CD functions can be controlled with a traditional Plinius remote control. If an approved remote IR blaster is present in the room, the remote control display in the Plinius Arataki app on an iPad can operate these functions instead. The Toko has distinctive styling and build quality intended to sit alongside other traditional components in a music system.
