Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) Conductors
Solid conductors avoid strand interaction, which is a significant source of dynamic distortion. High-purity PSC+ solid copper reduces distortion associated with grain boundaries. Direction control addresses surface asymmetry and supports Radio-Frequency Noise-Dissipation.

Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System (NDS)
AudioQuest’s Linearized Noise-Dissipation System uses multiple shields and a carbon-based linearised resistive network to convert most noise into heat. The system is designed to work across an extremely wide bandwidth rather than only at selected frequencies. Remaining unwanted energy is directed away from sensitive amplifier circuits through controlled signal and shield conductors.

ZERO-Tech
ZERO-Tech removes the fixed characteristic-impedance value of the cable, eliminating characteristic-impedance mismatches between the cable and its source and load. It does this by preventing interaction between the insulation, or dielectric, and the conductors, allowing uncompressed current transfer. Transient current remains unrestricted, while RF Noise-Dissipation is linearised consistently from octave to octave.

Insulation also acts as a dielectric and a shunt filter. Biasing the dielectric correctly linearises this filter and improves the cable’s ability to dissipate induced noise across a wide bandwidth. The DBS pack’s Level-X Noise-Trap draws RF Noise out of the cable, reducing unwanted behaviour in connected audio circuits.

Mythical Creature Cold-Welded Terminations
Mythical Creature cables are cold-welded to AudioQuest’s high-purity red copper spades or bananas. The bare copper is suspended in a vat of pure silver rather than tumbled in a lower-grade solution. AudioQuest speaker breakouts and plug casings are non-metallic to avoid inducing RF Noise into the conductors.

ThunderBird Bi-Wiring
Where possible, separate cables for the treble and bass sections of a speaker can reduce distortion. Bi-wiring keeps the large magnetic fields associated with bass energy away from the treble cable, giving upper frequencies a less magnetically disturbed path.

AudioQuest’s RF/ND-Tech, a patented RF-Cancelling Ground-Noise-Dissipation system, draws RF energy away from the amplifier’s output. Correctly implemented bi-wiring has traditionally provided improved performance for the same or less money. With RF/ND-Tech, the benefit of bi-wiring is more pronounced. BASS model cables are intended for 10KHz and below and must not be used full-range or on treble.

ThunderBird BASS cable is suitable for use with ThunderBird ZERO. A Bi-Wire COMBO, with BASS and ZERO cables joined at the amplifier, is generally the most convenient arrangement. For tri-wiring, use BASS cables on the midrange and bass inputs.

Caution: Do not bi-wire with 2 ZERO cables. ZERO cables connected in parallel can create a very high-frequency resonant peak, or ringing, resulting in poor sound. Use 1 ZERO cable with 1 BASS cable, whether or not they are joined as a COMBO. The second option is a single ZERO cable with AQ Bi-Wire jumpers.
