The REL T/9x is a high-output subwoofer designed for both music and home theatre systems. As the range flagship, it provides greater output and dynamics while retaining the intimacy, clarity and speed associated with smaller models. It is intended to complement high-performance European floorstanding and stand-mounted monitors, as well as smaller panel speakers, allowing them to produce full-range sound without trading sonic balance for power and scale.

The redesigned cabinet has greater internal volume to support increased fluidity and power. REL’s engineers worked with the designer to increase the cabinet size while maintaining a visually compact footprint. Gently rounded corners reduce the appearance of visual mass, giving the enclosure a modern form without unnecessary adornment.

Higher output and improved control required a complete revision of the suspension components. The increased cabinet volume improves efficiency, allowing more output without additional amplifier power. Reduced internal back pressure also permits tuning for a stiffer, better-controlled driver suspension. The 10” (250mm) lightweight cone retains its aluminium centre cap, which increases stiffness while adding almost no mass. The revised combination improves attack, dynamics and transparency.

The REL T/9x uses the company’s Class A/B amplifier design, retained across every generation of Serie T since 2006. Around 200,000 units of the range are in use, and reliability remains a central part of the design. Its 300 watt MOSFET amplifier has substantial current reserves and large power supplies, with updated driver MOSFETs to improve performance and transparency. New methods of securing the toroidal transformers provide greater strength and improved performance.

REL’s High Level Input connects to the speaker outputs of an amplifier without drawing power from it. Combined with fast filters, unique tuning and dedicated limiters, this connection gives the T/x range a natural character with a fresher, faster and more dynamic response.

The Standby Mode switch is included only on 220V units.
