Stereo 200

The Cyrus Stereo 200 is a stereo power amplifier using the company’s in-house developed 3rd generation Hybrid Class D amplification. It delivers 2 x 203W into 6Ω from a compact chassis, with high efficiency designed to direct nearly all the power supply energy to the amplifier output rather than dissipating it as heat.

The Hybrid Class D design avoids the need for cooling fans, including when providing its large power outputs. Efficiency and damping factor are also improved by recovering the energy used to stop the loudspeaker cone moving and returning it to the power supply reservoir. Cyrus states that this allows the Stereo 200 to operate without cooling issues or compromises in audio quality.

Speaker Impedance Detection, or SID, assesses the loudspeaker load each time the amplifier is powered up. At high frequencies, it adjusts the amplifier output response to account for differences between load impedances, aligning the Class D output devices and providing balanced, smooth high-frequency performance. When the unit is mains cycled, the loudspeaker load is assessed again and the adjustment is applied accordingly.

From full standby, the Cyrus Stereo 200 switches on when any signal input exceeds -55dB. If no signal above -55dB is detected for 10 minutes after the amplifier has switched on, it returns to standby.
