Stella Utopia Evo EM

The Focal Stella Utopia Evo EM is a 3-way floor standing loudspeaker from the Utopia III Evo line. It is the technological twin of the Grande Utopia, with a more compact design and a 33 cm W woofer. Its 3-way architecture is designed to reproduce the mid-range clearly while maintaining definition across the full frequency range and balance between the registers.

The sound architecture of the Utopia III has been retained to reduce harmonic distortion in the mid-range, which is important for conveying the artist’s expression. The Stella Utopia Utopia EM Evo incorporates Focal’s NIC, or Neutral Inductance Circuit, and TMD, or Tuned Mass Damper suspension. The crossover system for the new speaker drivers has been redesigned, while reinforcement rings around the drivers improve the rigidity of the cabinet and contribute to overall acoustic coherence.

The mid-range technology developed through Focal’s research in 2008 includes TMD suspension, which provides a linear frequency response between 1 and 4kHz while reducing distortion across this range. The result is a neutral mid-range register. The Neutral Inductance Circuit stabilises the magnetic field to avoid harmonic distortion and intermodulation, using an extremely stable magnetic circuit developed by Focal’s engineers.

Focal Stella Utopia Evo EM uses components selected by Focal engineers after testing in real conditions. The internal wiring is crafted in France, and the wire gauge has been increased by 20%. The bass enclosure uses thicker acoustic wadding, providing tighter bass with greater control and precision.

The Utopia Evo line also includes denser acoustic material inside the subwoofer, double terminal boards and cables manufactured in France. New finishes add a design element to the silhouette, while the cabinet incorporates the reinforcement rings positioned around the speaker drivers.
