Statement Interconnects 1m pair

The Jorma Design Statement is a 1m pair of interconnect cables, developed over 7 years using design experience gained over decades. The construction combines an extra dense walnut shell with an ultrapure ceramic core, with the materials selected for the cable’s internal and external components.

Conductors

The conductors use very pure copper, selected after testing other materials and copper configurations. The copper is specified for a neutral, transparent and natural musical signal, with purity referring not only to oxygen content but also to other polluting materials and metals. Each conductor is subjected to a 6000 V impulse tension spark test before being used in cable production.

Inside each conductor is a filler made from ultra-thin ceramic glass fibre threads. Hundreds of these fibres form the centre, around which thin copper threads are wound in exact parallel alignment. This creates a very thin copper tube, with its thickness varying according to the cable series. The construction uses as little copper tube thickness as possible, while a pure ceramic fibre filler provides the support required for normal use. Although this method is difficult to produce, the finished conductor is highly resistant to damage.

Shielding

Statement interconnects use heavy tin-plated copper shielding to reject radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI). The shielding works with the conductor geometry to remove incoming and outgoing RFI and EMI without compromising the audio signal. It also helps stabilise the cable against vibration and microphonics. Jorma Design power cables use a different type of steel shielding and are excluded from this construction.

Connectors

The connectors are selected for their contribution to sound quality. Where solder is used elsewhere in the range, it is selected on the same basis. The connectors used on these cables are assembled with gold-plated copper crimps and no solder.

Structure

The cable’s structure, together with the materials used throughout its design, contributes to its natural sound. The insulation surrounding the conductors is kept to the minimum required to make the finished cable strong, safe and durable. Increasing the insulation would adversely affect the sound, which accounts for the slender profile of Jorma Design Statement interconnects.
