Signature Tuned ARAY Power Cable 1.5m

Our first move into the contentious area of hi-fi power cables was the Chord Power Chord. Experience gained while developing high-frequency shielding enabled us to produce a power cable with consistent performance from system to system. The shielding itself was straightforward. The development process revealed other less obvious factors, including the extent of the silence between notes and its contribution to the musical experience.

At the same time, we began developing UK mains and IEC plugs of our own design. They use heavily silver-plated contacts, with silicone damping to minimise vibration between the upper and lower sections of the mains plug. The IEC plug also has additional silver plating. These developments led to the Signature ARAY Power Cable, which combines the new silver-plated mains and IEC plugs with an ARAY conductor configuration and a dual-layer shield incorporating 95% coverage high-density braid.

When a Signature ARAY Power Cable is fitted, the reduction in noise is readily apparent. This can reveal more of the music, including the decaying tones of piano notes, the initial attack of a snare drum and the brittle aggression of a Fender Telecaster played through its bridge pickup. Connecting one to a source component provides a direct way to assess its effect.

The source component is the logical starting point because reducing interference entering it can be heard throughout the system. Adding further cables can extend this effect. We regularly use a CD transport to demonstrate what 1 power cable can do in a system, before adding cables to the remaining components. The Signature ARAY Power Cable is the result of extensive experience in designing cables intended to support a more musical system.
