Signature 10 Superpack

The Pro-Ject Signature 10 is a high-end audiophile turntable with a heavy, decoupled construction and a pre-installed 10" tonearm. Its MDF plinth is filled with metal granulate to form a dense, non-resonant base, then supported by 4 magnetic feet lined with TPE pillows. This combines high-mass and floating turntable design principles, an approach Pro-Ject first merged in its high-end Xtension turntables.

A mass-loaded magnetic sub-chassis sits above the main plinth to reduce resonance and noise transfer to the cartridge. The large, heavy main platter is taken directly from the Signature 12 and rotates on an inverted ceramic main bearing. Machined from a specially selected, resonance-optimised metal alloy, the platter has internal damping material and a surface made from melted vinyl records. A diamond-cut Signature Record Puck is included.

The external motor uses a high-tolerance speed controller, with electronic switching between 33 and 45RPM. Drive is transferred to the platter by a purpose-designed perimeter belt, supporting accurate timing.

Pro-Ject's 10" Signature Tonearm is made from different metal and aluminium alloys, machined on CNC machinery with ultra-precise diamond cutters. Damping material inside the tonearm tube adds mass and acoustic integrity, while the tube is mounted on a special oil-damped Uni-Pivot bearing. VTA, Azimuth and Overhang can be adjusted for accurate set-up. The detachable headshell allows the Signature 10 to accommodate a range of high-end cartridges, including cartridges intended for Mono recordings or selected to suit a particular musical style or genre.

The Signature 10 takes design elements from the flagship model in a format intended to be more accessible and easier to install within an existing space.

The interconnect between a record player and phono stage can pick up interference from household appliances, wi-fi and bluetooth devices, other power cables and audio amplifiers. Unshielded RCA interconnects can increase this noise, making it audible through the speakers and interfering with the musical signal.

Balanced, typically XLR, connections use twice the number of wires for the musical signal, with one side inverted. Noise picked up by both wires is therefore reversed on one side. When the signals are recombined at the phono stage, the opposing noise signals cancel each other, leaving a louder, cleaner musical signal with almost no remaining noise.
