RS150

The McIntosh RS150 is a wireless loudspeaker and complete standalone home audio system. It can stream directly from smart devices without a dedicated control app, using Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Chromecast and Roon Ready network streaming.

As the replacement for the RS100 Wireless Loudspeaker, the McIntosh RS150 introduces changes to its operation and control. Compatible casting technologies allow it to be operated directly from supported streaming applications.

Its amplification provides 90 Watts for the woofer and 30 Watts for the tweeter, doubling the RS100's power output. The woofer has increased in diameter from 4" to 5-1/4", while the larger, re-engineered enclosure supports higher output, lower distortion and deeper bass extension. A bass control allows the low-frequency response to be adjusted for the room and listening preferences.

The RS150 supports TIDAL HiFi high-resolution playback of 24-bit/192kHz digital music files at up to 9216 Kbps. Its built-in high-resolution streaming hardware also makes it a Roon Ready endpoint. Roon Ready network devices contain Roon streaming technology and are certified by Roon Labs for network streaming quality and performance.

Bluetooth 5.0 supports the high-bitrate Advanced Audio Coding AAC standard and Qualcomm aptX HD for high-resolution audio playback. Qualcomm aptX Low Latency is included for faster audio transmission and synchronised sound with compatible visual media.

An illuminated digital output meter is fitted to the front of the RS150. Exclusive to the RS150 and RS250 Wireless Loudspeaker System, it uses circuits based on those found in McIntosh analogue meters to collect and process the audio signal. The result is digitised and shown as a responsive, pulsating graduated bar following the curved form of the familiar analogue meters.

The lower section of the speaker has a glass front panel, while the upper section is covered by a removable grille that exposes the woofer and tweeter. Network connection is provided by a wired Ethernet port, with support for Wi-Fi protocols a, b, g, n and ac. The RS150 is also compatible with Google Assistant, allowing voice control through a Google Assistant control device.
