RPM 9 Carbon
The Pro-Ject RPM 9 Carbon uses a high-mass, carbon-fibre-coated plinth with magnetic feet that decouple the turntable from its support and reduce resonance. Its 7.2kg TPE-damped aluminium platter runs on an inverted ceramic bearing, while the pre-installed 9CC Evolution tonearm supports accurate cartridge tracking.

The Pro-Ject RPM 9 Carbon is a high-end record player with a CNC-machined MDF plinth, carbon fibre finish, magnetic feet, perimeter belt drive and a pre-installed 9CC Evolution tonearm. Its plinth uses resin-coated steel pellets within the MDF structure to create a high-mass sandwich construction, providing a firm base for the turntable. A heat treatment process and carbon fibre surface further reduce resonance, while the magnetic feet decouple the main structure from its support.
The 7.2kg polished aluminium platter is based on the design used for the Xtension 9 SuperPack record player. It is internally lined with Thermo-Plastic Elastomer (TPE) damping material and finished with a vinyl surface. The platter runs on an inverted ceramic main bearing, supporting stable speed with extra-low rumble.
A perimeter belt drive mechanism transfers power from the motor to the platter. The motor has an automatic speed change switch on the top panel for selecting 33 or 45rpm, together with a built-in AC power generator PCB that provides a clean mains supply. It is fully decoupled from the main chassis and mounted on a custom-designed steel base for improved stability.
The supplied 9CC Evolution Tonearm is fitted before delivery. This 9” tonearm uses a conical carbon fibre tube and an inverted bearing design for accurate tracking with demanding pick-up cartridges. Signal transmission is handled by the supplied 5-Pin to RCA Connect-IT CC cable.
A heavy-weight record puck is included with the Pro-Ject RPM 9 Carbon. The complete package is designed for a lively, engaging and musical performance.
True Balanced Connections
The interconnect between a record player and phono stage can collect noise from household appliances, wi-fi and Bluetooth devices, other power cables and audio amplifiers. Unshielded RCA interconnects can amplify this interference and make it audible through the speakers, where it can affect the musical signal.
Balanced connections, typically using XLR cables, carry the musical signal on 2 wires, with one side inverted. Noise picked up by both wires is cancelled when the signals are rejoined at the phono stage because the opposing signals are reversed. This produces a louder, cleaner musical signal with almost no remaining noise.
