RPM 5 Carbon
The Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon uses a decoupled 9V AC motor and PCB-controlled generator for smooth, consistent rotation, with an acoustically inert acrylic platter. Its pre-installed 9CC Evolution tonearm uses a one-piece carbon fibre tube and inverted bearings to maintain tracking with demanding cartridges and less-than-perfect records.
The Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon is a precision belt-drive turntable with a decoupled synchronous motor and a 9CC Evolution tonearm supplied pre-installed. Its low-resonance MDF plinth has a high-gloss finish and a carbon fibre top layer for added rigidity. The decoupled-motor design follows the performance approach used in the range-topping RPM 9 Carbon and RPM 10 Carbon.
Rotation is controlled by a PCB-controlled motor with precise speed stability. The fully detached 9V AC motor uses an ultra-precision, DC-driven AC generator built into its housing to provide smooth, consistent rotation. A new inverted platter bearing with a ceramic ball is used to minimise rumble, while 3 adjustable aluminium spiked feet help isolate the plinth from resonance.
The thick acrylic platter was designed specifically for the RPM 5 Carbon. Its acoustically inert construction is intended to support clean playback of vinyl records. A screw-on record clamp is also supplied to further improve performance.
The fitted 9CC Evolution tonearm has a 9-inch, one-piece carbon fibre tube and an inverted bearing design for accurate tracking with demanding pick-up cartridges and less-than-perfect records. Its heavyweight assembly and TPE-damped counterweights help draw unwanted resonances away from the signal wires. The tonearm is also used on other Pro-Ject turntables, including the award-winning Xtension 9 SuperPack. It terminates at a junction box, with a set of RCA interconnect cables supplied.
The Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon is available with a high-gloss base in black, red or white. A dust cover is available as an optional extra.
