Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) and Solid Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) Conductors
Solid conductors prevent electrical strand-to-strand interaction, a significant source of distortion. Surface quality is important because a conductor guides both the fields within it and the magnetic fields extending beyond it. Perfect-Surface Copper+ is exceptionally smooth and pure, reducing harshness and increasing clarity compared with OFHC, OCC, 8N and other premium copper conductors. The high-purity Perfect-Surface Silver further reduces distortion caused by grain boundaries within the metal.

Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System (NDS)
AudioQuest’s Linearized Noise-Dissipation System combines multiple shields with a carbon-based linearised resistive network, converting most of this noise into heat. The system is linearised across an extremely wide bandwidth rather than being effective only at selected frequencies. The remaining unwanted energy is drained away from sensitive amplifier circuits through directionally controlled signal and shield conductors.

ZERO-Tech
Characteristic-impedance mismatches between a cable and its source and load can only be fully removed by ensuring that the cable has no fixed characteristic-impedance value. ZERO-Tech achieves this by eliminating interaction between the insulation, or dielectric, and the conductors, allowing uncompressed current transfer. Transient current remains unrestricted, while RF Noise-Dissipation is linearised consistently across octaves.

Insulation also acts as a dielectric and a shunt filter. Biasing the dielectric correctly linearises the filter, improving the cable’s ability to dissipate induced noise across a wide bandwidth. The DBS pack’s Level-X Noise-Trap draws RF noise out of the cable, further reducing unwanted behaviour in connected audio circuits.

Directionality
Drawn metal strands and conductors have a non-symmetrical grain structure and are therefore directional. AudioQuest controls the resulting RF impedance variation so that noise is drained away from areas where it could cause distortion. The correct direction is determined by listening to every batch of metal conductors used in each AudioQuest audio cable. Where applicable, arrows are marked on the connectors. On most AQ cables, the arrows indicate the direction that optimises metal directionality within the Noise-Dissipation system, as well as the non-symmetrical attachment of the shield and GND for full-system performance.

Folk Hero Cold-Welded Terminations
Folk Hero cables are cold-welded to AudioQuest’s highly pure Red Copper Spades or Bananas. The bare copper is suspended in a vat of pure silver rather than tumbled in a lower-grade solution. AudioQuest speaker breakouts and plug casings are non-metallic, preventing them from inducing RF noise into the conductors.

Robin Hood Bi-Wiring
Where possible, using separate cables for the treble and bass halves of a speaker significantly reduces distortion. Bi-wiring keeps the large magnetic fields associated with bass energy away from the treble cable, allowing upper frequencies to travel along a less magnetically disturbed path.

AudioQuest’s RF/ND-Tech, a patented RF-cancelling ground-noise-dissipation system, draws RF energy away from the amplifier output. When correctly implemented, bi-wiring provides improved performance for the same or less money. With RF/ND-Tech, the benefit of bi-wiring is more pronounced. Because RF/ND-Tech is highly effective, BASS model cables are intended for 10KHz and below. Do not use a BASS cable full-range or for treble.

Robin Hood BASS cable is intended for use with Robin Hood ZERO or SILVER ZERO. A Bi-Wire COMBO, with BASS and ZERO cables joined at the amplifier, is usually the most convenient arrangement. For tri-wiring, use BASS cables on the midrange and bass inputs.

Caution: Do not bi-wire with 2 ZERO cables. ZERO cables connected in parallel can create a very high-frequency resonant peak, or ringing, resulting in poor sound. Use 1 ZERO and 1 BASS cable, whether or not they are joined as a COMBO. The second option is a single ZERO with AQ Bi-Wire jumpers.
