The KEF Reference 5 Meta is a high-performance floorstanding loudspeaker and the flagship model in The Reference Series. It features KEF’s 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with MAT™, reflecting the company’s continuing focus on loudspeaker innovation.
The Reference since 1973
The Reference has set a benchmark for loudspeakers and sound reproduction since 1973. KEF pioneered the use of digital technologies to achieve high audio accuracy, and every pair can be matched within 0.5dB to the laboratory-maintained reference standard.
Continuing development
KEF engineers have developed The Reference through successive generations since the first model, applying the available technologies to the study of acoustics. Each iteration has contributed to KEF’s understanding of loudspeaker design and the science of sound reproduction.
Designed, engineered and handcrafted in the UK
KEF has created loudspeakers at its UK home in Maidstone, Kent, since 1961. The Reference range continues to be designed, engineered and handcrafted there.
