Phono Cable reference 1.2m
The Jorma Design Phono Cable reference carries a neutral, transparent and natural musical signal from a turntable, with XLR, RCA or straight and 90° DIN connector options. Its pure copper conductors use ceramic glass fibre centres, Teflon dielectric and tin-plated copper shielding to reject RFI and EMI.

The Jorma Design Phono Cable reference is a phono cable made using Jorma Design’s copper conductors, Teflon dielectric, selected connectors and shielding system. The design is intended to preserve a neutral, transparent and natural musical signal through the use of carefully specified materials and conductor geometry.
Copper
Jorma Design uses high-purity copper in its loudspeaker cables, interconnects and phono cables. The material was selected after testing other materials and different copper configurations. Purity refers not only to oxygen content but also to the absence of other contaminating materials and metals. Before being used in production, every conductor is subjected to a spark test using 6000 V impulse tension.
Conductors
The conductors contain a special ceramic glass fibre filler made with ultra-thin threads. Hundreds of these fibres form the centre, around which thin copper threads are wound in exact parallel alignment. This creates a very thin tube, with its thickness varying according to the cable series. Jorma Design found that reducing the tube thickness produced better-sounding results, although a thin copper tube alone would not provide sufficient stability for normal use. The copper is therefore twined around a pure ceramic fibre filler centre, keeping the conductor as close as possible to a tubular form. Although this construction is difficult to manufacture, the finished conductor is highly resistant to damage.
Teflon
The dielectric used in all Jorma Design cables is made from pure, non-coloured Teflon.
Connectors
Connectors are selected for their sound quality, as is the solder where solder is used. Connectors on all cables are assembled with gold-plated copper crimps and do not use solder.
Shielding
Jorma Design cables use shielding to reject radio frequency interference (RFI) and electromagnetic interference (EMI), while also stabilising the cable against vibration and microphonics. Except for power chords, which use a different type of steel shielding, all Jorma Design cables have heavy shielding made from tin-plated copper. This works with the conductor geometry to remove incoming and outgoing RFI and EMI without compromising the audio signal.
Structure
The structure of Jorma Design cables, together with the materials used throughout their construction, contributes to their natural sound.
Size
The relatively thin construction is deliberate. Increasing the cable diameter would adversely affect the sound, because the insulation surrounding the conductors has been kept to the least amount required. Additional insulation beyond what is necessary to make the finished cable strong, safe and long lasting would degrade the sound. Its appearance follows from this construction approach.
Quality control
Each Jorma Design cable combines a specific design and structure with carefully selected materials. Every cable must meet strict criteria before leaving the factory, and is individually tested to confirm that it meets those standards.
The Sound
Jorma Design designs each cable to sound musical. In this context, musical means that the owner can listen to music for hour after hour without the cable becoming a distraction. The aim is a completely natural presentation, allowing attention to remain on the music rather than on the cable’s strengths and weaknesses. The cables are intended to let an audio system create an immersive sound field.
