Phono Box RS

The Pro-Ject Phono Box RS is a fully balanced phono stage for MM and MC cartridges, with a dual-mono circuit layout and RCA or XLR connections for integration with a hi-fi system. Its low output impedance allows it to be used with a wide range of quality cables.

The input stages use the SSM2019 pre-amplifier module from Analog Devices, while Linear Technology's LT1010 provides the high-current buffer stage. The circuit is designed for low noise and low distortion, with each channel handled separately in the dual-mono configuration. A metal case protects the internal circuitry from vibration and interference, and the unit is available with silver or black casework.

Cartridge matching includes gain and capacitance adjustments, together with a continuously variable input impedance control. The impedance dial is intended to allow precise matching with Moving Coil cartridges and can be adjusted during playback. Front-panel dip switches provide further control, while the Phono Box RS offers a choice of fully passive RIAA or DECCA equalisation curves.

Phono Box RS provides RCA and XLR inputs and outputs, with balanced operation throughout. Its adjustable loading, MM and MC compatibility, and selectable equalisation are intended to support clear, detailed and smooth vinyl playback.
