PH-5.2

The Gold Note PH-5.2 is a phono stage for analogue audio, developed as the direct successor to the PH-5 and as a more compact expression of the design principles established by the PH-10 and PH-1000. Its purpose is to preserve the character of the original recording rather than impose a separate sonic signature.

The PH-5.2 brings together changes to the mechanical structure, power supply, user interface and equalisation management. These elements are intended to limit interference and maintain coherence across the recording.

A NEW DESIGN BORN FROM FUNCTION

The anodised aluminium chassis introduces the visual language of Gold Note’s Series 5.2, with a more essential and rigorous appearance than the previous generation. Its material has been selected for low interaction with magnetic fields, creating a cleaner and more stable electrical and mechanical environment that helps reduce micro-interferences and background noise.

As with the rest of the range, the construction of PH-5.2 is guided by function. The design carries forward the philosophy of the PH-10 and PH-1000 in a more compact and accessible form, retaining the principles considered important to the circuit and removing unnecessary interference rather than adding character to the sound.

NEW POWER SUPPLY: THE FOUNDATION OF SONIC CREDIBILITY

The phono stage’s power supply has been redesigned to provide greater stability and control during operation. This helps the circuit retain coherence through complex and dynamically demanding passages, with greater solidity, better-controlled bass and a cleaner, more relaxed high-frequency range.

INTERFACE AND USABILITY: PRECISION THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

A revised interface improves readability and allows faster navigation. Load and gain parameters can be set more precisely, helping the cartridge operate under suitable conditions and giving the user greater control over its setup.

EQUALISATION CURVES: THE HEART OF THE PROJECT

PH-5.2 treats equalisation curves as a means of reconstructing the context of a recording, rather than as a way to change or correct its sound. RIAA was not the only curve used for record production, and many historical recordings were made with alternatives associated with their era, studio and recording technology.

Selecting the wrong curve can affect tonal balance, dynamics and the character of a recording. The Gold Note PH-5.2 is designed to place equalisation at the service of the record, so that choosing the appropriate curve allows it to be reproduced as intended.

With lower background noise, a stable power supply, accurate load and gain adjustment, and the correct equalisation curve, the system is designed to let the recording come through naturally.
