The Naim NSS 333 is a network music streamer for accessing Spotify Connect, Apple Music, TIDAL, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz and radio stations. AirPlay 2, Chromecast, UPnP™, Roon Ready and Bluetooth® aptX are built in, allowing music to be streamed from a smartphone or tablet. The NSS 333 is also compatible with multi-room systems using connected Naim products.

The Focal & Naim app provides control of the streamer, servers and Naim streaming products through a single application. It gives access to music, radio stations, playlists and streaming services, as well as artist biographies and discographies. System updates can be carried out wirelessly.

Naim’s New Classic products use electronic circuits developed by the company’s engineers under the direction of its Technical Director. The NSS 333 incorporates the NP800 streaming card, a dedicated DSP with an integrated crossover, and a DAC with audiophile audio-signal management.

The design uses a clean, contemporary form with premium materials, a colour screen and adjustable logo brightness. Controls on the front panel provide direct access to standby, play/pause, inputs and favourites. The bi-directional ZigBee remote can be used without direct visibility of the product.

Inputs are configurable, while a standby setting with a power consumption of 0.5 Watts reduces the product’s electrical energy use. The NSS 333 can be connected to New Classic products and to earlier Classic Series products using the dedicated cables available for this purpose.

Naim’s use of aluminium follows the approach established by founder Julian Vereker, who recognised its benefits when housing electronic components. Audio components can be affected by magnetic fields, thermal instability and unwanted vibrations, and the New Classic range uses aluminium housings to address these concerns. This approach is shared only with the Statement product range.

The housing uses a specific grade of aluminium selected for its thermal and microphonic properties. The front panels are made from solid 20mm-thick aluminium billets, with heat sinks framing the side panels and 5mm plates covering the top and bottom surfaces. The aluminium is brushed, sandblasted and anodised to maintain the finish throughout the product’s life.
