NAC-N272

The Naim NAC-N272 is a network streaming preamplifier designed for use with a NAP 200, NAP 250 or NAP 300 power amplifier. It combines app-controlled streaming from iOS and Android devices with the performance of a separate system, while retaining single-box operation for the streaming and preamplifier stages.

Streaming options include UPnP at resolutions up to 24bit/192kHz, Spotify Connect, iRadio, Bluetooth with aptX, USB, multiroom functionality and TIDAL support. An optional DAB/FM module is also available. Six digital inputs and 3 analogue inputs allow connection of sources including CD players, games consoles and phonostages.

The NAC-N272 can be upgraded with a Naim Audio XP5 XS, XPS or 555 PS power supply. Its analogue input sockets are individually hand wired to the main board, and the board is mounted on shoulder bolts to reduce mechanical tension. Sound-critical resistors are supplied to Naim Audio matched within 5%, then hand-matched during assembly to within 1%. Their legs are also given a slight mechanically compliant bend during assembly.

Naim handcrafts the 272 with attention to its mechanical and electrical construction. Control is provided through iOS and Android apps, with the unit intended to deliver the functionality of a streaming system alongside separate hi-fi components.
