The Melco N100-H20 Music Server and Media Player

The Melco N100-H20 is a half-sized music library with a 2TB hard disc drive and 3 USB 2.0 ports. Its 215mm-wide chassis uses the same design as the MELCO D100 CD drive and MELCO E100 expansion drive, allowing it to be used in a rack or on a desktop.

Music storage and management

The internal 2TB HDD has capacity for approximately 4000 CDs. Music files stored on the N100-H20 can be played through LAN or USB, while the library collates and arranges files for browsing by Album, Artist, Data format, Date of recording, Composer and other categories.

CD import is available through any USB-connected optical disc drive, with metadata and album art added from the Gracenote database. The N100-H20 is compatible with the MELCO D100 high-performance CD loader, and CDs can also be played directly to a connected USB-DAC without importing, in the manner of a high-end CD player.

Music can be downloaded directly to the Melco N100 from HiResAudio.com and other vendors without requiring a network computer. Automatic downloads include a file integrity check.

Playback and operation

Music can be browsed and played from the N100 front panel or through an app on a smartphone or tablet. The player supports high-resolution music formats up to 32bit 384kHz and Octo DSD.

When used with a USB-DAC headphone amplifier, the MELCO N100 forms a compact Hi-Fi system. Its sound quality follows the Melco tradition and is intended for use in a high-end system.

The N100 is ready for use after the language and time zone have been selected. Further advanced features are available through the simple front-panel interface, allowing customisation.
