N-03T

The Esoteric N-03T is a network audio transport system for connecting a music library and streaming services to an external DAC or the built-in DAC of a Super Audio CD player through USB. It provides access to DSD master audio, a CD collection arranged as a library, and streamed music from a living room system. Operation requires an audio system, a home LAN such as a Wi-Fi router, a tablet or smartphone, and a NAS music server for storing the library.

The N-03T supports DSF, DSDIFF, FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF, MP3 and AAC, with USB output up to DSD 11.2MHz and PCM 384kHz/32-bit. Gapless playback is available with all lossless formats, which allows live and opera recordings to play without interruptions. It is also compatible with a wide range of streaming services and audio codecs.

Esoteric Sound Stream

Esoteric Sound Stream is an Apple iOS network playback app for tablets and smartphones. Music can be selected on the device, added to a customised playlist and played from there. The app provides access to playlists and libraries through screens designed for straightforward operation, alongside advanced functions for experienced users.

Its search and retrieval function uses tag information, while stored images allow album artwork and libraries to be browsed by artist, year of recording, composer or category.

High-Sampling Digital Output

A USB port provides digital output up to DSD 11.2MHz and PCM 384kHz/32-bit, allowing connection to a USB DAC or a disc player with a USB port. The N-03T also has 2 other digital output systems, comprising 1 XLR and 1 RCA, supporting PCM up to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD 2.8MHz through DoP.

Music Server Function

Large-capacity storage devices can be connected to the 2 USB ports on the front and rear of the unit, allowing the N-03T to operate as a simplified music server with the player and library integrated.

Equipped with 2 Powerful Independent Power Supplies

2 large independent toroidal transformers supply the internal network module and the other digital circuits separately. These linear power supplies use large filter capacitors and Schottky barrier diodes rather than a standard switching power supply. The dedicated network-module supply also includes an EDLC, or Electric Double-layer Capacitor, with a capacitance of 1F (1,000,000μF).

High-Rigidity Chassis Construction

The bottom chassis securing the circuit components uses a dual-layer structure of 2 steel plates, measuring 5mm and 2mm. The power supply transformer and other components are arranged three-dimensionally across the 2 layers to prevent interference between components, while laser-cut slits in each layer control vibration. A thick, heavyweight aluminium panel enclosure and Esoteric’s pinpoint feet provide mechanical grounding against vibration. The feet are covered by patents JP4075477 and JP3778108.
