The McIntosh MX124 is a 13.4-channel home cinema processor with support for Dolby Atmos, DTS Pro, Sony 360 Reality Audio and MPEG-H Audio. It supports configurations including 7.4.6 and 9.4.4, with 4 dedicated subwoofer outputs for control across the listening space. 9 32-bit audiophile-grade DACs handle digital conversion, while bass and treble controls provide additional adjustment.

For home cinema installation, the MX124 provides 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs, with support for 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz. Features include eARC, independent second-zone video, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and IMAX Enhanced, together with HDCP 2.3, Rec. 2020, 4:4:4 colour, ALLM, QFT, VRR, dynamic lip-sync and 3D video passthrough.

Room calibration is covered by full licences for Dirac Live Room Correction and Dirac Live Bass Control, allowing the speaker and subwoofer response to be configured for the room. Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is also included, so users can select their preferred room-correction system. A full-size microphone stand is supplied for calibration.

McIntosh proprietary analogue and digital circuitry, audiophile-grade DACs, advanced output stages, signal routing and engineered power supplies are used throughout the MX124. The processor combines current digital processing with more than 75 years of McIntosh engineering expertise.

Streaming is available in up to 32-bit/192kHz through Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect. The MX124 is also Roon Ready for bit-perfect playback and multiroom listening. Its built-in Bluetooth transmitter can send audio to Bluetooth headphones for private listening.

Physical connectivity includes 4 digital audio inputs, 1 balanced and 8 unbalanced analogue stereo inputs, component and composite video inputs, and 2 analogue stereo outputs for additional zones. The MX124 is certified for Control4 and Crestron Home, with web-based configuration, file upload and backup and restore functions, plus RS232 automation control.
