MP100

The McIntosh MP100 is a dedicated phono preamplifier for Moving Coil and Moving Magnet turntables. It was the first dedicated phono preamplifier from McIntosh, and is designed for both new and experienced vinyl listeners. The MP100 can serve as the main component in a new vinyl system, add modern phono facilities to an existing system with an older preamplifier, or connect a turntable to a home theatre system without duplicating the functions of a full-sized stereo preamplifier.

Inputs are provided for Moving Coil and Moving Magnet cartridges, with 6 adjustable loading settings for each type. The MP100 also has balanced and unbalanced analogue outputs, optical, coaxial and USB digital outputs, and a Mono switch. Selecting Mono when playing mono records reduces noise and plays the signal correctly.

Via USB, the MP100 can be used with a properly configured conversion programme to rip records to a computer as high quality digital files. Its digital outputs are fixed at 24-bit/96kHz, capturing the full dynamic range of a record while optimising digital file size. A clipping indicator identifies very loud sections, allowing the digital output level to be reduced for a distortion-free recording.

At 3” tall, the compact McIntosh MP100 uses the brand’s established design cues and an 11.5” narrow chassis. This is shared with the MXA70 Integrated Audio System, MHA100 Headphone Amplifier and MB50 Streaming Audio Player, allowing it to form part of a cohesive system. The MP100 can also be integrated with equipment using standard, wider-width chassis.
