Mediterraneo
The Gold Note Mediterraneo brings hand-made Italian construction to a high-mass turntable, using a 60mm curved aged Italian Walnut plinth with acrylic and stainless steel layers. Its 12V Swiss Made synchronous motor offers electronic 33/45 rpm control and fine speed adjustment, while the 45mm Sustarin platter supports stable rotation and low noise.
The Gold Note Mediterraneo turntable is a hand-made Italian record player developed around analogue and vinyl playback. Gold Note began designing turntables 25 years ago, and this remains central to the company’s products, with close attention given to design and construction.
Local craftsmen manufacture each Mediterraneo using a combination of aged Italian Walnut, acrylic and stainless steel. Its 60mm curved plinth uses Walnut selected for its elasticity, strength and high density. A 20mm polished acrylic board and a 3mm stainless steel board complete the structure, helping to reduce resonance while maintaining rigidity.
The multiple-plinth construction consists of a 60mm wooden base made from Italian Walnut hardwood slats, a 20mm polished acrylic board and a 3mm stainless steel board. The recessed platter bearing sits within the acrylic board, keeping the platter close to the main structure to support rotational stability and speed precision.
Power control and motor drive
A dedicated power supply drives the 12 Volt Swiss Made synchronous motor, providing electronic 33/45rpm selection and fine speed adjustment. The controller stores these settings automatically in its memory, including when the turntable is disconnected from the AC supply.
Gold Note’s proprietary power control generator uses a Quadral-Core micro-controller and an audio converter to reshape the AC wave. This is intended to minimise vibration and increase motor torque, supporting dynamics, resolution and detail.
The hourglass-shaped, polished aluminium pulley allows the belt to run smoothly, reducing Wow & Flutter and Rumble so that more information can be extracted from the record groove.
Platter and bearing system
Mediterraneo has a 45mm high-mass platter made from black Sustarin, a rigid and highly dampening material based on POM polymer. Its construction helps to control vibration and maintain rotational stability. The platter is matched to the bearing and spindle system using close tolerances.
The 60mm platter spindle and bearing system uses hardened, rectified and chromed steel, a polished bronze housing and ceramic ball bearings. The bearing is ceramic at 4,3mm, while the polished bronze bearing system has a 1/100 mm tolerance. These materials and tolerances support smooth platter rotation, stable operation and low noise.
Each element contributes to the turntable’s dampening, rigid structure and rotational precision. Gold Note Mediterraneo combines its traditional materials with contemporary technical solutions and curved forms.
The turntable is supplied with a dedicated Gold Note B-5.1 tonearm and a transparent, custom-made acrylic dust cover. Gold Note’s proprietary hinges allow the cover to be removed.
