MC611 Monoblocks
The McIntosh MC611 Monoblocks, Quad Balanced power amplifiers, deliver 600 Watts to each loudspeaker through output Autoformer technology, maintaining full power with 2, 4 or 8 Ohm loads. Doubled filter capacity increases dynamic headroom from 1.8dB to 2.8dB, while Power Guard helps prevent clipping that could damage speakers.

The McIntosh MC611 is a 600 Watt Quad Balanced monoblock power amplifier for high-end stereo and home cinema systems. Its output Autoformer™ technology delivers the full 600 Watts to loudspeakers with 2, 4 or 8 Ohm impedance. A pair can drive a stereo system, while additional MC611 amplifiers can be used in a home theatre installation.
Compared with the previous McIntosh 600 Watt monoblock model, the MC611 has twice the filter capacity. This increases dynamic headroom by 55%, from 1.8dB to 2.8dB, and supports the performance of low bass frequencies. Heavier gauge internal wiring and upgraded circuit components are also used.
The front panel uses direct LED backlighting for improved appearance and colour accuracy. The audio Autoformer and power transformer remain positioned behind the front panel, each housed in a new glass topped enclosure. 2 Monogrammed Heatsinks™ connect to advanced high current output transistors, helping to eliminate thermal equilibrium lag time. The panel between the heatsinks carries a screening of the amplifier’s block diagram.
On the rear panel, 3 sets of Solid Cinch™ speaker binding posts provide 1 set for each speaker impedance. The spacing between the sets has been increased to make speaker cable management easier. An eco-friendly power management system switches the amplifier off after a set amount of time when no input signal is detected.
- Power Guard® monitors and adjusts the input signal in real time to prevent harsh sounding and potentially speaker damaging clipping.
- Sentry Monitor™ is a fuse-less short-circuit protection circuit. It disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating levels and resets automatically when operating conditions return to normal.
- Quad Balanced design cancels virtually all noise and distortion that may have entered the audio signal.
- Power Control sends power on and off signals to other connected McIntosh components for system start-up and shutdown.
The MC611 includes balanced and unbalanced outputs for bi-amping or tri-amping loudspeakers. These outputs can also send the audio signal to a secondary system if the preamplifier does not have enough outputs, or connect to a powered subwoofer.
The amplifier is built on a polished stainless steel chassis, with a black glass front panel, illuminated logo, control knobs, aluminium handles and an 8” (20.3 cm) fast responding blue Watt meter. The price shown is for a pair of McIntosh MC611 monoblock amplifiers.
