The Ortofon MC Windfeld Ti is a moving coil phono cartridge with a revised cartridge body and a titanium core manufactured using Selective Laser Melting (SLM). The central band shares the design language of Ortofon’s high-end Cadenza Series, while the SLM process, also used for the flagship MC Anna cartridge, increases body rigidity, reduces unwanted vibration and supports greater dynamic capability.

The MC Windfeld Ti uses Ortofon’s Replicant 100 stylus, which has a thin, lightweight profile and a long vertical contact surface intended to follow the geometry of an original record-cutting stylus. The stylus is specially polished and mounted on a boron cantilever.

A compact, lightweight generator system combines the cantilever with a powerful neodymium magnet and Ortofon’s Aucurum 6NX oxygen-free copper coil wire. Its armature has low magnetic properties, allowing the cantilever to track without restraint. A Field-Stabilizing Element (FSE) helps prevent fluctuations in the magnetic field, supporting channel separation, zero transmission loss and a soundstage with greater space between performers.

The cantilever suspension incorporates Ortofon’s Wide Range Damping (WRD) system. This uses a small, heavy platinum disc positioned between 2 rubber absorbers with different properties, providing tracking control and damping across the frequency range. The specified result is a distortion-free response with a linear frequency balance.

Ortofon designed the MC Windfeld Ti to provide a dynamic, open presentation with a clear midrange, micro-dynamic detail and a delicate, musical character. Clear markings on the rear of the cartridge assist installation. The shaped top panel forms a rigid 3-point contact with the tonearm for mechanical integration.

With a weight of 11g and compliance of 13μm, the MC Windfeld Ti is suitable for a wide range of high-end tonearms. Its 7Ω output impedance and 0.2mV output voltage also allow compatibility with a wide range of MC phono preamplifiers and step-up transformers.

The housing has a matte-black finish on either side of the titanium core. Per Windfeld’s initials appear on 1 side, accompanied by a new Ti designation for the latest technical development. The cartridge was designed to honour Per Windfeld, Ortofon’s former chief engineer.
