MC Verismo
The Ortofon MC Verismo, a moving-coil cartridge, uses a titanium body made with Selective Laser Melting, giving it high internal damping. Its Replicant 100 Line Contact stylus and solid diamond cantilever support accurate reproduction, low distortion and extended frequency range, while 3 defined contact points aid integration with modern tonearms.

The Ortofon MC Verismo is a high-end moving coil cartridge from the Ortofon Exclusives series. It has been developed using Ortofon’s knowledge of vibration properties, material characteristics, magnetism, mechanical design and related technologies, with the aim of delivering precise analogue playback with impact, dynamics and detailed reproduction.
The cartridge body is made from titanium using Ortofon’s Selective Laser Melting (SLM) manufacturing technique. This allows precise control over the density of the body material and provides high internal damping. The MC Verismo uses Ortofon’s Replicant 100 diamond, a Line Contact stylus with a narrow, elongated contact surface designed to follow the profile of the original cutting stylus as closely as possible. This supports accurate reproduction, low distortion and an extended frequency range.
A solid diamond cantilever forms the interface between the stylus and armature. Its hardness and crystal structure support the transfer of information through the cartridge, with improvements in inner detail, subtlety and depth during analogue reproduction.
Mechanical contact with the tonearm is made through 3 defined contact points on the upper surface of the cartridge. This arrangement provides precise integration between the cartridge and tonearm, supporting dynamics, resolution and detail. Optimised weight and moderate compliance make the Ortofon MC Verismo suitable for the majority of modern tonearms and compatible with a wide range of contemporary high-end turntable equipment.
The name Verismo comes from the Italian word vero, meaning true, and refers to realism. Verismo was a post-Romantic operatic genre that originated in an Italian literary movement during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its operatic tradition is associated with Pietro Mascagni, Ruggero Leoncavallo, Umberto Giordano, Francesco Cilea and Giacomo Puccini, who sought to portray the world with greater realism.
