The Sugden Masterclass SPA-4 is a stereo Class A power amplifier derived from the MPA-4 monoblock. It uses the same fully balanced circuit design, with different power output and the added flexibility of both single-ended and balanced inputs. The SPA-4 is intended for systems where a single stereo amplifier is more practical than 2 substantial monoblocks.
With its wide bandwidth and substantial headroom, the SPA-4 accepts the presented signal and reproduces it without loss across complex musical material. Its control and presentation of the soundstage allow low-level detail and the ambience of the original recording venue to be heard clearly. The circuit is suited to both smaller and larger loudspeaker designs.
The Masterclass series has been in continuous production for over 17 years. As the stereo version of the MPA-4, the Sugden SPA-4 provides the same Class A operation in a single chassis, while retaining the fully balanced architecture required for a balanced hi-fi system.
