The Sugden Masterclass IA-4 is a large integrated amplifier using solid-state, pure Class A power amplification. Its design combines a wide-bandwidth preamplifier with a development of the original Sugden A21 pure Class A power stages, providing an integrated source with an organic, euphonic acoustic presentation and the ability to create a large, holographic soundstage.
As Sugden’s flagship integrated amplifier and its most popular model, the IA-4 weighs 20 kilos and has a purposeful appearance with substantial build quality. Input and output facilities include a phono stage, while the bespoke preamplifier section is designed for clarity and detail. The amplifier can produce depth and height across different types of music.
The Class A power output circuit is developed from the A21 series, with a larger power supply and upgraded smoothing and output capacitors. Gold-plated circuit boards, full relay switching and a precision input selector switch complete the internal specification.
