The McIntosh MA7200 is a 200-watt-per-channel integrated amplifier designed as the core of a 2-channel home audio system. Its 14 inputs comprise 8 analogue connections and 6 digital inputs, with all sources assignable custom names for straightforward system control and configuration.
The analogue connections include 5 unbalanced inputs, 1 balanced input, and separate Moving Coil and Moving Magnet inputs for turntables. Digital connectivity is provided by 2 coaxial inputs, 2 optical inputs, 1 USB input and 1 proprietary MCT input for use with the McIntosh MCT450 SACD/CD Transport. These connections are housed in the DA1 Digital Audio Module, which can be replaced by future modules to keep the MA7200 current with later digital audio technologies.
The DA1 uses an 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analogue Converter in Quad Balanced mode. Its USB input accepts PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz, as well as DSD256 and DXD 384kHz. The coaxial and optical inputs decode music up to 24-bit/192kHz.
McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks™ dissipate heat efficiently and are connected to advanced high-current output transistors. This design removes the need for warm-up time, allowing the MA7200 to operate at its full sonic capabilities from switch-on. Other features include Autoformers, which deliver the full 200 watts to each speaker regardless of impedance, Power Guard®, Sentry Monitor™, Home Theatre PassThru, bass and treble tone controls, a High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director, HXD®, and gold-plated speaker binding posts.
The McIntosh MA7200 has blue watt meters, a black glass front panel, aluminium end caps, control knobs and an illuminated McIntosh logo.
