MA5300

The McIntosh MA5300 is a solid state integrated amplifier with 100 Watts per channel into 8 Ohm speakers and 160 Watts per channel into 4 Ohm speakers. It is the smallest McIntosh solid state integrated amplifier in both power output and physical size, making it suitable for smaller spaces or for someone beginning to assemble a home audio system. The direct coupled design is paired with dual-scale blue Watt meters, which show power output for both 4 and 8 Ohm impedances.

There are 12 inputs in total, comprising 6 analogue inputs, with 4 unbalanced, 1 balanced and 1 Moving Magnet input for turntables, alongside 6 digital inputs. These include 2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 proprietary MCT input for use with McIntosh MCT series SACD/CD Transports. The digital inputs are contained within the DA1 Digital Audio Module, which can be replaced by future modules as new digital audio technologies are developed. Its 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analogue Converter operates in Quad Balanced mode and supports up to DSD256 and DXD 384kHz for high resolution audio playback. Each input can be assigned a user-friendly name to simplify system control and configuration.

McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks are connected to high current output transistors and eliminate warm-up time, allowing the MA5300 to operate at its full sonic capability from switch-on. Control microprocessors improve overall system operation, while audio-grade circuit components are used throughout. Bass and treble tone controls provide adjustment to suit personal preferences.

The MA5300 also includes Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Home Theatre PassThru, a High Drive headphone amplifier and Headphone Crossfeed Director, or HXD. Gold-plated speaker binding posts are fitted at the rear. Its McIntosh design includes blue Watt meters, a black glass front panel, aluminium end caps, control knobs and an illuminated logo.
