The M28 is designed to provide the current needed to control speakers through demanding musical passages. It is conservatively rated at 200 watts into an 8 ohm load, with flat response and very low distortion. Low-frequency performance remains fast and articulate, including at the speaker’s resonant peak.
A balanced differential structure reduces the stress on the M28 amplifier’s internal elements. Used with the balanced structure of the Bricasti M1 digital to analogue converter, the M28 forms a balanced differential signal path from source to speaker. The M28 also provides 18 dB of stepped gain attenuation for level matching with different audio sources or listening spaces. An RS232 link conveys status information for monitoring several system functions.
The M28 combines its mechanical and electronic design in a precisely engineered amplifier. Its milled aluminium chassis is manufactured to exacting tolerances, with each electronic element positioned within a dedicated location. Mass and passive ventilation are used to distribute heat evenly and maintain a cool-touch chassis under load. Electronic and thermal design, together with detailed analysis of each completed system, support the specified performance.
