M12 Platinum

The Bricasti M12 Platinum handles digital playback with precise, silent analogue gain control, pure DSD processing and wired network streaming, while pass-through inputs accommodate analogue sources. Its dual-mono construction separates left and right analogue power supplies from digital processing, with a fully balanced resistor-ladder control placed at the D/A converter output stage.

The M12 builds on the proven design of the M1 SE D/A converter, handling and converting digital sources through a pure dual mono analogue signal path. High-resolution analogue gain and level control operate in the analogue domain, controlling the D/A converter output stage without loss of resolution. Pass-through analogue inputs are provided for analogue sources. Like the M1, the M12 uses a dual mono design with 3 power supplies, separate left and right analogue power supplies, and independent digital and analogue processing.

The M12 adds a network interface and media renderer. This allows it to appear as a DLNA device on an audio network and function as an audio device for playback or streaming through a wired network connection. Wired data can run over longer distances without loss in quality, allowing the network server to be positioned where required.

Analogue gain control supports DSD playback with a pure analogue DSD converter. Filtering and level control are carried out in the analogue domain, without digital signal processing. In most DACs, DSD is converted to a multi-bit sigma delta or PCM signal for filter processing. The M12 maintains a pure DSD path, with noise filtering and level control performed entirely in the analogue domain.

The M12 provides precise, silent analogue control with 90db of range in 1db steps. Control is remote operated and programmable. Its digitally controlled, fully balanced dual mono resistor ladder is placed at the source, at the output of the DAC’s I-V stage. This provides digital playback with analogue control through the M12’s balanced or unbalanced inputs.
