Kanta N2

The Focal Kanta N2 is a 3-way floor-standing speaker developed over 3 years of research and development. The first model in the Kanta range combines a pure Beryllium IAL3 tweeter with Flax sandwich-cone midrange and bass drivers, producing precise, detailed sound with warmth and musicality.

The Kanta N2 uses a new combination of materials and an acoustic-performance-focused design. Its midrange and bass drivers use Flax, a low-mass, rigid and damped material that supports clarity and precision. The patented Flax membrane is made in France and has also been used in Focal home and in-car speakers.

The midrange driver has TMD, Tuned Mass Damping, suspension, while every Kanta driver incorporates an NIC, Neutral Inductance Circuit. This stabilises the magnetic field for defined sound and controlled bass.

High density polymer cabinet

The baffle and shell materials combine density and stiffness with softened angles and double vents. Moulded in 1 piece from high density polymer, the baffle is matched to the speaker’s acoustic parameters. High density polymer is 70% denser than MDF, 15% stiffer and provides 25% more damping. The 1-piece baffle eliminates sound diffraction.

Focal’s Power Flow technology uses vents on the front and rear faces to limit bass compression. The rear shell is made from 1-piece integrally moulded wood, while the Zamac base provides stability with a small footprint. Spikes and cups are supplied as part of the base.

Beryllium IAL3 tweeter

The treble is reproduced by a new pure Beryllium tweeter. Its IAL3 design combines the principles of IAL, Infinite Acoustic Loading, and IHL, Infinite Horn Loading. Both technologies assist wave absorption, allowing the tweeter frequency to be lowered and distortion to be reduced.

The speaker alignment has been revised through Focal’s Focus Time design, which positions the drivers at the same distance from the listener’s ear. A glass-covered top and magnetic grille fixings complete the cabinet. Removing the grilles exposes the Flax cones.

The back cover is available in High Gloss black lacquer or Walnut veneer. Each shell option is available with 4 baffle colours in 2 finishes.
