HT/1510 Predator

The REL HT/1510 Predator is a home theatre subwoofer with a 1,000-watt Class A/B linear power supply amplifier, PerfectFilter™ inputs and a 15” CarbonGlas™ driver. It is designed for use in multi-REL systems and can be blended with Serie T/x, Serie S and Reference models.

As the full upgrade of the original HT/1510, Predator II revises the amplifier, driver, cabinet and internal engineering. The development followed 3 requirements: greater power, a cabinet suited to a home theatre system, and effective integration with REL high level models. Combining the HT/1510 with Serie T/x, Serie S and Reference models produced rich, full-range theatre bass.

The 1,000-watt amplifier replaces the previous 800-watt design, while the new 15” (380mm) driver handles 40% more power. Together, these changes provide greater scale, speed and dynamic output. Specialised HT versions of REL’s PerfectFilter™ provide flatter deep bass response down to 20 Hz. Predator II also delivers the highest .1/LFE output of any REL.

The cabinet uses horizontally line-grained black finishing with a subtle sheen and proportions based on REL Reference models. Its full-depth rails support the cabinet and brace it against the driver’s movement. The rails also allow up to 3 HT/1510 Predator units to be stacked per channel in a Line Array, extending performance up the height of large projection screens.

Inside each HT/1510, REL’s BrilliantBrace™ cradles the rear of the driver to reduce the risk of shipping damage, redirect energy that would otherwise remain trapped in the driver, and quieten the top, bottom and sidewalls of the cabinet. The same structural system contributes to the secure support required for stacked installation.

The 15” (380mm) CarbonGlas™ driver combines a glass fibre cone with a carbon fibre centre cap. Its lightweight construction allows the 3” (75mm) voice coil to accelerate the cone quickly, while the carbon fibre centre cap stiffens the composite structure so that it remains stable when handling large signals. The increased power handling allows the amplifier to operate at its full capability, while the driver also supports music reproduction.

Power comes from a 1,000-watt Class A/B linear power supply amplifier using 4 x 400-watt MOSFETs and a high-capacity power supply. The amplifier provides substantial current reserves for explosions and special effects, with high output available immediately.

For larger systems, up to 3 Predator units can be stacked using the included REL Couplers™. These solid, milled aluminium couplers bolt each subwoofer to the next, while the substantial underside rails form a rigid, heavy tower. A stereo stack of 6 units, with 3 per side, provides over 8,000 watts of peak power from 6 x 15” drivers.
