HT/1003

The REL HT/1003 is a powered home theatre subwoofer with a 10” CarbonGlas™ driver, a 300W Class D amplifier and a compact cabinet. It is designed for high-powered home theatre systems, immersive gaming set-ups and use with active powered loudspeakers, where the output of a larger HT model is not required. The HT/1003 follows the same design approach as the larger models in the Serie HT range, scaled to suit a smaller enclosure.

The 250 mm driver uses a lightweight, stiff CarbonGlas™ cone, with carbon fibre covering more than 60% of the driven surface and lightweight glasfibre behind it. A natural butyl surround remains soft and pliable over long-term use. The driver is designed for high output and long excursion, while specially adapted home theatre input filters use inverse filtering to extend the response much deeper than conventional designs. Bass is designed to remain extremely flat down to the 20Hz range.

Power comes from REL’s NextGen5 300W Class D amplifier. Its cool-running design releases internal space for greater cabinet volume, supporting deep bass from the compact enclosure. The available power allows the driver to maintain high output during extended operation. The amplifier and driver combination was developed for large-scale home theatre playback in a relatively compact footprint.

The cabinet is narrow to reduce visual mass, while its increased depth supports deeper bass. It is wrapped in a tough, high-grade, horizontally oriented, line-grained composite with a black aluminium-look finish that is easy to handle and clean. The top panel is 12mm thick and finished with 5 coats of hand-rubbed lacquer to help damp cabinet vibrations across the upper surface.

Serie HT was developed as an affordable, purpose-built home theatre range that can be placed in compact environments, including systems using several subwoofers. The HT/1003 is intended to provide high output for home theatre effects and can supplement the .1/LFE output of REL Serie T/i or S subwoofers, which are designed for both 2-channel and theatre use. Adding an HT/1003 to an existing REL system can provide further depth and output for special effects.

The HT/1003 is compatible with REL HT-Air™ wireless connectivity. This system uses zero-compression transmission rather than Bluetooth-based audio, retaining maximum dynamics with delivery latency in the 16-20 millisecond range. Wireless placement allows the subwoofer to be positioned where it works best without running signal cables across the room.
