F701

The Fyne Audio F701 is a UK-built standmount loudspeaker with a 200mm IsoFlare point source driver and an integrated BassTrax low-frequency diffuser in its down-firing port. Its handcrafted cabinet is available in black, white or walnut veneer, each finished with high-gloss piano lacquer. The F701 can be used with Fyne Audio’s FS8 Stand.

Its cabinet uses pressed, high-density birch-ply panels with extensive internal bracing. The sculpted curves are calculated to diffuse standing waves, while the rigid construction supports a neutral enclosure. A complex twin-cavity tuning system is built into each cabinet. The F700 Series cabinets are constructed to consistent standards inside and out, with the veneer and lacquer finish completing the available black, white and walnut options.

At the centre of the F701 is a 200mm IsoFlare driver derived from Fyne Audio’s F1 Series technology. A 25mm magnesium diaphragm compression tweeter is mounted coaxially within a multi-fibre mid/bass driver, which uses a FyneFlute roll surround. This point source arrangement provides isotropic radiation, imaging and an even frequency response.

The compression tweeter has a neodymium motor, a vented rear chamber and a metal pole piece that transfers heat. Its direct diaphragm output is tuned with a waveguide of unique geometry, producing a flat response to over 30kHz. The multi-fibre cone provides a natural midrange and fast transient attack, while the FyneFlute surround terminates cone energy to reduce unwanted resonances affecting bass and midrange detail. A large motor assembly with flux-focusing magnet increases low-frequency sensitivity and supports the dynamics of high-energy instruments. High power handling and high efficiency are central to the IsoFlare design. Across the F700 Series, the 200mm and 250mm IsoFlare drivers are designed to produce live-music dynamics and real-world sound pressure levels.

The F700 Series crossover combines low-loss inductors, Claritycap high-grade capacitors and Van den Hul® high-purity silver-plated internal wiring. Each crossover is Deep Cryogenically Treated, using super-freezing followed by slow thawing to relieve microstress in components, wiring and solder joints. The bi-wired terminal panel has gold-plated link cables and premium-quality gold-plated binding posts. A fifth terminal provides a grounding connection to help prevent radio-frequency interference from masking fine detail.

BassTrax is integrated into every F700 model. The large down-firing port uses a mathematically derived Tractrix profile and conical diffuser to create a 360-degree low-frequency wavefront. This supports bass integration in different rooms and reduces the bass bloom associated with conventional port and room interactions. The design also makes the F700 Series less sensitive to room position than traditional hi-fi loudspeakers, allowing placement for practical or aesthetic reasons.

The F700 Series plinth is machined from aluminium and provides a stable platform for Fyne Audio’s patent-pending BassTrax low-frequency diffuser. Twin 8mm-thick plates are separated by aluminium spacers, with sturdy floor-coupling spikes and large knurled lock rings on the floorstanding models for levelling. Machined aluminium cups are supplied to protect wooden floors. The lower plate supports the Tractrix cone diffuser used by the BassTrax porting system. The plinth is finished in satin black and polished aluminium to complement all 3 loudspeaker finishes.
