F700

The Fyne Audio F700 is a compact hi-fi loudspeaker built in the UK, using technology derived from the flagship F1 series. Its 150mm IsoFlare point source driver is paired with a BassTrax LF diffuser integrated into the down-firing port. The handcrafted cabinet is available with black, white or walnut veneer beneath a high-gloss piano lacquer finish.

The F700 uses an isotropic energy-radiating point source driver, a magnesium compression tweeter, neodymium motors and Deep Cryogenically Treated crossovers. Its curved, twin-cavity tuned enclosure is made from birch plywood and mounted on a substantial all-metal plinth with an integrated Tractrix profile diffuser.

The cabinet shape is calculated to diffuse standing waves, while extensive internal bracing supports the neutral operation of the enclosure. High-density birch plywood is used for its low sonic colouration, and the twin-cavity construction forms part of the complex tuning system. Each cabinet is built by hand inside and out, with the piano lacquer finish applied over the black, white or walnut veneer options.

The crossover uses low-loss inductors, Claritycap high-grade capacitors and Van den Hul® high-purity silver-plated internal wiring. Every F700 crossover is Deep Cryogenically Treated, using a super-freezing and slow-thawing process intended to relieve microstress in components, wiring and solder joints. The bi-wired terminal panel has gold-plated link cables and premium-quality gold-plated binding posts. A fifth terminal provides a ground connection to help prevent radio-frequency interference from masking fine detail.

Fyne Audio’s BassTrax Tractrix diffuser system is integrated into every F700 model. A large down-firing port and mathematically derived Tractrix-profile conical diffuser produce a 360-degree low-frequency wavefront. This arrangement is designed to provide the depth and scale associated with a larger ported cabinet while reducing the bass bloom that can result from conventional port and room interactions. It also makes the F700 Series less sensitive to room position than traditional hi-fi loudspeakers, allowing placement to be chosen for practical or aesthetic reasons.

At the centre of the F700 is the IsoFlare point source driver. Its 25mm magnesium diaphragm compression tweeter is mounted coaxially within a powerful midrange and bass driver, which uses a rigid multi-fibre cone and FyneFlute roll surround. The compression high-frequency driver uses isotropic point source radiation, while its neodymium motor, vented rear chamber and metal pole piece support heat transfer and power handling. An HF waveguide with a specific geometry is used to tune the diaphragm output to a flat frequency response beyond 30kHz.

The IsoFlare bass and midrange section uses Fyne’s multi-fibre cone, designed for a natural midrange and fast transient attack. The FyneFlute roll surround helps terminate cone energy and reduce unwanted resonances affecting bass and midrange detail. A large motor assembly with a flux-focusing magnet increases low-frequency sensitivity, allowing the driver to reproduce the dynamics of high-energy instruments.

High power handling and high efficiency are characteristics of the IsoFlare point source design. Across the F700 Series, the 200mm and 250mm IsoFlare drivers are designed to reproduce live music dynamics and real-world sound pressure levels. Auxiliary drivers are also used in the floorstanding models.

The F700 Series plinth is machined from aluminium and provides a stable platform for Fyne’s patent-pending BassTrax LF diffuser. Twin 8mm-thick plates are separated by aluminium spacers. Floorstanding models use sturdy floor-coupling spikes with large, knurled lock rings for levelling, while machined aluminium cups protect wooden floors. The lower plate supports the Tractrix cone diffuser within the BassTrax porting system. Satin black and polished aluminium finishes are used to complement all 3 loudspeaker finishes.
