Dragon BASS 3m
The AudioQuest Dragon BASS 3m speaker cable uses solid Perfect-Surface Silver conductors and RF/ND-Tech for bass and midrange connections in a bi-wired or tri-wired loudspeaker system. Used with Dragon ZERO Full-Range on the treble input, it keeps bass energy separate from the upper-frequency cable path for clearer signal transmission.

Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) Conductors
AudioQuest applies Perfect-Surface Technology to extremely pure silver for improved clarity and dynamic contrast. Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) is AudioQuest’s highest-quality metal. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, which is a significant source of cable distortion. The high purity of Perfect-Surface Silver reduces distortion caused by grain boundaries within the metal conductor, minimising harshness and increasing clarity compared with OFHC, OCC, 8N and other copper conductors.
Carbon-Based Linearized Noise-Dissipation System (NDS)
AudioQuest’s Linearized Noise-Dissipation System combines multiple shields with a carbon-based linearised resistive network that converts much of this noise into heat. The system is effective across an extremely wide bandwidth rather than only at selected frequencies. The remaining unwanted energy is drained away from sensitive amplifier circuits through directionally controlled signal and shield conductors.
ZERO-Tech
The complete way to eliminate characteristic-impedance mismatches between a cable and its source and load is for the cable to have no fixed characteristic-impedance value. ZERO-Tech achieves this by eliminating interaction between the insulation, or dielectric, and the cable conductors, allowing uncompressed current transfer. Transient current remains unrestricted, while RF Noise-Dissipation is linearised consistently from octave to octave.
RF/ND-Tech
A cable’s ground leads are integral to a component’s signal transmission, but they also act as antennas and are therefore subject to induced Radio-Frequency (RF) noise. RF noise is a parasitic signal that is typically coupled directly into a system’s most sensitive audio and video circuits. AudioQuest’s RF-on-ground Noise-Dissipation (RF/ND-Tech) reduces the resulting distortion and signal masking, providing Noise-Dissipation across a wide range of radio frequencies. Its circuit topology uses a common-mode phase-cancelling array to provide linear Noise-Dissipation along the cable’s entire length (US Patent # 8,988,168).
72v Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) with Level-X RF Noise-Trap
Insulation also acts as a dielectric and a shunt filter. Biasing the dielectric correctly linearises the filter and improves the cable’s ability to dissipate induced noise across a wide bandwidth. The DBS pack’s Level-X Noise-Trap draws RF noise out of the cable, further reducing unwanted behaviour in the connected audio circuits.
Mythical Creature Cold-Welded Terminations
Mythical Creature cables are cold-welded to AudioQuest’s extremely pure red copper spades or bananas. The bare copper is suspended in a vat of pure silver rather than tumbled in a lower-grade solution. AudioQuest speaker breakouts and plug casings are non-metallic to avoid inducing RF noise into the conductors.
Dragon Bi-Wiring
Where possible, using separate cables for the treble and bass sections of a speaker reduces distortion. Bi-wiring keeps the large magnetic fields associated with bass energy away from the treble cable, allowing upper frequencies to follow a less magnetically disturbed path.
AudioQuest’s RF/ND-Tech, its patented RF-cancelling ground-noise dissipation system, draws RF energy away from the amplifier’s output. When implemented correctly, bi-wiring can improve performance for the same or less money. With RF/ND-Tech, the benefit of bi-wiring is more pronounced. Because RF/ND-Tech is highly effective, BASS model cables are intended for 10KHz and below. Do not use a BASS cable full-range or for treble.
Dragon BASS cable is intended for use with Dragon ZERO. A Bi-Wire COMBO, with BASS and ZERO cables joined at the amplifier, is generally the most convenient arrangement. For tri-wiring, use BASS cables on the midrange and bass inputs.
Caution: Do not bi-wire with 2 ZERO cables. ZERO cables connected in parallel can create a high-frequency resonant peak, or ringing, resulting in poor sound. Use 1 ZERO cable with 1 BASS cable, whether or not they are joined as a COMBO. The second option is a single ZERO cable with AQ Bi-Wire jumpers.
