The Weiss DAC 502 is a digital-to-analogue converter, network streamer, preamplifier and headphone amplifier for 2-channel hi-fi systems. It uses the same digital platform as the DAC501, housed in a full-width chassis, and provides extensive DSP functionality alongside flexible system integration.
PCM and DSD sources can be processed at high resolution, with the digital architecture designed for precise, transparent, low-noise operation. DSP functions include room equalisation, tone control, loudness compensation, headphone equalisation and crossfeed. These allow the signal and headphone presentation to be adjusted within the DAC 502.
As a network streamer, the DAC 502 can play music directly from compatible music servers and streaming platforms. Its digital connections include USB, AES/EBU, coaxial and optical inputs for computers, transports and other digital sources. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA outputs connect to a power amplifier or integrated amplifier.
The integrated preamplifier provides direct volume control for an all-digital system, reducing the requirement for additional electronics. A dedicated headphone output supports personal listening, with headphone equalisation and crossfeed available through the DSP functions.
Front-panel controls and a display provide day-to-day operation, while further configuration is available through Weiss' software interface. The DAC 502 combines streaming, digital-to-analogue conversion, preamplification and signal processing in a single component, with studio-derived engineering at its core.
