The LUMIN D3 is a network music streamer and DAC with a fully balanced analogue output stage, XLR outputs and an all-aluminium compact chassis. It uses the Sabre DAC technology found throughout the LUMIN range, with the ES9028PRO DAC supporting playback up to DSD256 and PCM384. The latest LUMIN processing platform also provides flexible upsampling and downsampling to every supported format, including DSD256 and PCM384.
The new processing hardware and software increase processing power and storage capacity, providing a new foundation for LUMIN and allowing greater resampling flexibility and future-proofing. TIDAL Connect is included alongside AirPlay 2 compatibility, Roon Ready support, Spotify Connect, MQA, TIDAL, Qobuz, Plex and TuneIn.
The analogue output stage combines the Sabre DAC with a buffer incorporating LUMIN X1 technology. It is designed for ultra-low noise and high dynamic range, while retaining the fully balanced circuit design used by earlier models.

The thick CNC-machined front panel and all-aluminium enclosure provide damping performance while eliminating the steel used in the D2 chassis. LUMIN D3 has the same surface treatment introduced on the P1, which is less susceptible to finger marks and easier to clean.
LUMIN D3 builds on the D1 and D2 platform with completely new processing hardware and software, while retaining the features associated with those models. LUMIN players support high-resolution formats from MQA and DSD to FLAC and WAV, with native access to TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay 2.
The LUMIN App provides control of the player and has been described by TINMAN as the most convenient interface in existence. LUMIN's programme of continuous development has added Roon, MQA and Spotify support, including additions made in 2017.
Supported streaming services and technologies include Roon, TIDAL, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Spotify, KKBox, QQMusic, FLAC Radio Stations and more.
