The Ortofon Cadenza Blue is a cartridge from the Cadenza Series. The name comes from the Italian word for cadence, describing a passage in a concert where the orchestra stops and the soloist plays alone in free time, without a strict, regular pulse. A cadenza may be written or improvised, and is usually the most elaborate and virtuosic section performed by the solo instrument during the piece. The name reflects the capability and nuance intended for this cartridge series.

The Cadenza Series uses cobalt-iron pole pieces, an improved armature winding process and an extruded aluminium housing, among other changes. These developments allow the series to outperform the ranges that came before it. Ortofon organises the range using its colour-tier system, with Red, Blue, Bronze, Black and Mono (White) variants available for different budgets and tastes.

As the second model in the range, the Cadenza Blue uses a Nude FG 70 stylus mounted on a very thin ruby cantilever. Its improved armature winding process provides better channel balance than any preceding model at the price. The cartridge shares its styling with the other Cadenza models, while its construction reflects Ortofon's 100% commitment to a reputable product and satisfied customers.

From the first playback, the Cadenza Blue presents a wide, open and grand soundstage. Complex compositions reveal micro dynamics and ambience, producing a full and involving performance. The cartridge also provides a high level of detail and precise positioning, with clarity that remains true to the music.
