Inspiration

Bryston developed the BR-20 as a single-chassis preamplifier combining advanced analogue circuitry, the company’s digital-to-analogue conversion technology and bit-perfect high-resolution streaming. It is designed to bring together the functions of multiple components while reducing the demands on your equipment rack.

Years of R&D have produced a new discrete operational amplifier from Bryston, designed to outperform its predecessors. Each BR-20 measures at or below 0.0006% THD+N, providing an exceptionally low level of distortion. The BDA-3 DAC is combined with an updated BDP streaming platform, supporting digital playback through the built-in player or another chosen digital source. The internal headphone amplifier has also been updated, with increased power and lower output impedance to accommodate difficult loads. Optional features include Bryston’s most advanced phono preamplifier and a new HDMI card, adding further flexibility. The BR-20 is Bryston’s most advanced preamplifier to date.

The BR-20 is an audiophile hub with the connectivity required for a wide range of modern sources. Its built-in headphone amplifier can be supplemented by optional phono inputs for vinyl playback and 4K HDMI inputs for DSD playback and A/V connectivity. Bryston’s analogue circuitry, developed specifically for the BR-20, delivers the lowest noise and distortion measurements in the company’s 40-plus year history. The BR-20 is supplied with the BR-4 remote and includes RS232 and network connectivity for flexible control.
