Blade One Meta

The KEF Blade One Meta carries the world’s first Single Apparent Source speaker concept alongside 12th generation Uni-Q® with MAT™. Four 225mm (9 in.) force-cancelling bass drivers work back-to-back to reduce unwanted vibration, while the single-point-source arrangement supports precise imaging across a wider listening area.

The KEF Blade One Meta is a floorstanding hi-fi loudspeaker and the top model in the Blade series. It is the world’s first Single Apparent Source speaker, combining KEF’s 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology, or MAT™.

The bespoke driver array is designed to operate as a single acoustic source, with 4 225mm (9 in.) force-cancelling bass drivers completing the enclosure. Blade One Meta continues the development of the original Concept Blade, created by KEF’s engineers to demonstrate the company’s loudspeaker technologies without preconceptions or restrictions.

Single Apparent Source

Single Apparent Source technology places the Uni-Q® driver array at the centre of the Blade design. By acting as a single point source, the 12th generation Uni-Q® with MAT™ disperses sound more evenly throughout the room. This reduces the limitations of a narrow listening sweet spot, allowing listeners in different positions to hear a natural, detailed presentation.

12th generation Uni-Q® with MAT™

The latest Blade uses KEF’s 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array with Metamaterial Absorption Technology. The design is intended to produce coherent sound and precise imaging, while the MAT™ absorber manages unwanted energy behind the treble driver.

Force-cancelling bass drivers

Its 4 low-frequency drivers are mounted back-to-back. This arrangement cancels kinetic forces that could otherwise colour the output, supporting clean, controlled bass and low levels of cabinet resonance.

Integrated bass and crossover design

The 4 vented bass drivers are integrated with the 12th generation Uni-Q® with MAT™. The crossover in the latest Blade has also been refined to optimise the signal path for clarity.

Discrete chambers

Each pair of low-frequency drivers is housed in its own chamber. Separating the drive units reduces the potential for interference between them and lessens the need for damping material, which can affect bass quality.

Engineered and handcrafted in the UK

KEF has been creating loudspeakers at its UK home in Maidstone, Kent, since 1961. Blade One Meta continues to be designed, engineered and handcrafted there as part of KEF’s flagship hi-fi loudspeaker range.
